Types of Boiler Servicing
Annual Routine Boiler Servicing
This service is an annual check of the boilers condition and helps to ensure its ongoing safe operation. The check does not include any parts, but includes routine maintenance to reduce the risk of failure. This is what our years of experience has led us to deem to be the minimum level of recommended annual maintenance needed on most boilers to keep them safe and reliable. It’s all about efficiency and safety!
- Carrying out safe isolation of the appliance.
- Visually inspecting the boiler for signs of leaks, corrosion and wear and tear.
- Removing the boiler casing to check the visual condition and function of its main components.
- Checking and where necessary, recharging the internal expansion vessel (where one is present).
- Checking and where necessary, cleaning the internal condensate trap (where one is present).
- Checking case seals to ensure there is no risk of carbon monoxide leaks.
- Visually inspecting the flue for signs of leaks and to ensure it is correctly supported and safely terminated.
- Reassembling the boiler and testing the gas safety device.
- Checking the gas consumption of the boiler (gas pressure or gas rate) to ensure it is burning correctly.
- Checking the appliance emissions are in line with recommended levels.
- Cleaning your system filter where one is present and in good visual condition.
- Advice on any remedial work that is needed to keep the boiler working safely and correctly.
- Our engineers can also carry out heating system water quality testing for a small additional fee to check that your system is correctly protected and clean
Full Manufacturers Servicing
This is more of an in depth look at the boiler. It includes all of the items listed above but will also include any appliance specific maintenance. Appliance specific maintenance varies from one boiler to another and may typically include the items listed below. Worcester typically recommends this every five years but other manufacturers may require a full service more regularly. If your appliance is under guarantee, then it is likely that you will require a full manufacturers service to validate this.
- Deeper cleaning procedures.
- Routine seal replacements.
- Electrode replacements.
- A system water quality check.
Benefits of Regular Boiler Servicing
Safety
Regular servicing can help identify potential issues that might lead to gas leaks, carbon monoxide emissions, or even explosions in the case of gas boilers. For oil and LPG boilers, servicing can prevent oil and gas leaks.
Efficiency
Regular boiler maintenance can ensure your boiler is running at its most efficient, saving you money on energy bills.
Longevity
Like a car, a regularly serviced boiler can last longer, reducing the chances of costly breakdowns.
Compliance
Compliance: servicing is a legal requirement to ensure the safety of tenants.
